Bestandsovervåking av jerv i 2014.

Abstract

Miljødirektoratet og Naturvårdsverket har utarbeidet felles retningslinjer for overvåkingen av jerv som har vært gjeldene i både Norge og Sverige siden 2013. Bestandsstørrelse og –utvikling for erv i Skandinavia overvåkes ved registrering av ynglelokaliteter (revir) hvor det har blitt født ungekull i løpet av vårvinteren. Det gjøres en årlig beregning av bestandsstørrelsen som baseres på antall påviste ynglinger som er dokumentert eller antatt sikre ut i fra de felles skandinaviske overvåkingskriteriene. Jervynglingene registreres i hovedsak av feltpersonell fra Statens naturoppsyn (SNO) i Norge og Länsstyrelsene i Sverige, som utfører feltkontrollene. På svensk ide er samebyene i reinbeiteområdene aktive i rapporteringen av mulige hilokaliteter som personell fra länsstyrelsen kvalitetssikrer i felt.

løpet av registreringssesongen 2014 ble det totalt påvist 138 ynglinger av jerv i Skandinavia, noe som tilsvarer en liten reduksjon i antall ynglinger på 3,5 % sammenlignet med fjoråret. Av disse ble 86 ynglinger påvist i Sverige og 52 ynglinger i Norge. Basert på antall ynglinger i perioden 2012-2014 beregnes den skandinaviske bestanden i 2014 til 990 voksne jerver (95 % CI = 806–1264). Av de 990 jervene utgjør anslagsvis den norske delen av bestanden 343 ndivider (95 % CI = 275–450), og den svenske delen av bestanden 647 individer (95 % CI = 503- 867). The Norwegian Environment Agency (Miljødirektoratet) and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency (Naturvårdsverket) have cooperated to create collective guidelines for monitoring of the wolverine population, and these guidelines have been in force since 2013. The wolverine population size and the population trends over time are monitored through the registration of wolverine reproduction areas (territories) where reproductions have occurred during the late winter. The population size is estimated annually based on the number of reproductions that have been documented or considered certain according to the new criterias. The wolverine reproductions are mainly registered by field staff from the Norwegian Nature Inspectorate (Statens Naturoppsyn), in Norway and the County Administration Boards (Länsstyrelserna) in Sweden, the agencies responsible for field controls. In Sweden, the Sami villages (administrative units for reindeer herders) are active in reporting suspected den sites that the field staff from the County Administration Board will evaluate in the field. During the inventory of 2014, 138 wolverine reproductions were determined in Scandinavia, a decrease of 3.5 % in the number of reproductions compared to the previous year. Out of the total, 86 reproductions were located in Sweden and 52 in Norway. Based upon the reproductions that have been located in 2012-2014, the Scandinavian wolverine population 2014 is estimated to 990 adult wolverines (95 % CI = 806–1264). These were distributed with 343 individuals (95 % CI = 275–450) in the Norwegian part of the population and 647 wolverines (95 % CI = 503-867) in the Swedish part of the population.
